Dog Protection: Coyote Attacks Prevention

January 30, 2023 by Alicia Leave a Comment

Pet owners prioritize protecting their dogs and would not want them close to danger. Even though you may not reside in an area where wildlife is frequently seen, domestic animals might nonetheless encounter wild animals, especially coyotes. Coyotes have been seen in urban settings more regularly lately. Sadly, this implies that our pets are more likely than ever to become victims of a coyote attack. As caring pet owners, we must take precautions to protect pets from coyotes and avoid mishaps before they occur. Please continue reading to find out what we must do to safeguard dogs from coyote attacks.

Never Leave A Dog Unattended Outdoors

If you want to ensure your dog is safe outside, keep an eye on them. Unattended dogs will respond to a coyote’s appearance, whichever they feel is most appropriate. Unfortunately, this response may lead to a more serious matter. For instance, a predator may be perceived if your dog begins to growl and bark. People who chain their dogs in the backyard should note this. A chained dog can only travel so far to try to flee and protect itself from harm should a dangerous circumstance arise. You can respond quickly if a coyote wanders into your yard if you are watching your dog and are consequently present.

Walk Your Dogs On A Leash

Your pets’ safety depends on you walking them on leashes. It not only stops them from running, but it also makes it simple for you to prevent them from interacting with coyotes. Bear spray and a sturdy walking stick should be packed in your daypack if you take your pet for a stroll in a wilderness area or another area where encountering predators is likely.

As Much As Possible, Don’t Feed Your Dogs Outside

You run a higher risk of luring coyotes and other wild creatures into your yard if you feed your dog outside. Because of their excellent sense of smell, coyotes can detect even tiny dishes of dog food from a great distance. Any food that spills out of your dog’s dish could also remain in your yard and raise the possibility that an inquisitive coyote will come by looking for a free meal. If you have to feed your dog outside, do so during the daytime and tidy up immediately after your dog has finished.

Protect Your Yard

Preventing coyotes from accessing your yard is the most remarkable way to safeguard your dog. Although coyotes can only jump up to three feet in the air, they can climb nearly any wall or fence by pushing off with their back legs. Coyotes, for instance, have been observed leaping over 14-foot-tall chain-link fences. Additionally, it would be best to have a wall buried roughly 18 inches underground. Coyotes are skilled fence-jumpers and may readily jump over or dig under a wall. You’ll need a tall fence, about 6 feet tall, to keep coyotes out of your yard. The next step is to add a deterrent, like barbed wire, on top. Another excellent alternative is PVC piping because it is sleek, compassionate, and deters coyotes.

Maintain a Waste- and Garbage-Free Yard

Most coyotes that walk through a city are actively looking for food. It’s like extending a complimentary invitation to your yard if you leave anything outside that can have a smell that attracts animals or suggests that food is nearby. Yard waste, food scraps, household garbage, and even canine feces that you haven’t picked up around the property are all included in this. Spend time cleaning up your yard if you reside in a high-risk location or are concerned about coyotes that have been seen nearby. Keep trash packed in a shed or garage to keep the smell at bay.

You may think that dollhouses aren’t as popular as they used to be. However, it’s the mass-produced items that are made with cheap materials that aren’t popular. If you go through YouTube or TikTok there are myriads of videos of people building dollhouses.

Making dollhouses has become a popular pastime again and there’s something magical about handmade toys. So if you want to start making your own dollhouses you’ll enjoy today’s article. Keep reading to find out more.

1. The Best Way to Cut Out Spaces for Windows and Doors

Hand making a dollhouse takes time because there are a lot of small intricate parts you have to cut out. You want to make your dollhouse look as authentic as possible, therefore you’ll need windows and doors. The best way to cut out spaces for windows and doors is by using a laser cutter.

You can program a laser cutter to slice the exact shape and dimensions you want out of any hard material such as wood or plastic. The laser cutter will get the job done quickly which will give you more time to work on other parts of your mini house.

2. Epoxy for Windows, Basins and Bathtubs

Epoxy resin is used to make plastics, sealers, primers and adhesives. On the other hand, arts and crafts enthusiasts use epoxy to make jewellery. You can use epoxy to make clear or stained glass windows for your dollhouse.

Add colourants to your epoxy so you can make other mini items such as bathtubs or basins. Windows will be the easiest to make because they’re simply flat panels. Bigger items may be more challenging, but if you have a mould of the item you want to make it will be easier to craft.

3. Use Old Clothes and Linen to Make Curtains & Bedding

You don’t have to spend a fortune buying meters of materials from shops. Simply clean out your cupboards and put all the clothes & linen you don’t want in a pile. Select the colours and textures of the fabrics you want to use inside your dollhouse. Use the fabrics to make tiny curtains, cushions, rugs, bedding and more.

4. Wallpaper for Floors and Walls

Painting the interior walls and floors of your dollhouse may take some time. To save the hassle of painting and messing up the details of your interior you can use real wallpaper to cover your walls & floors.

5. Polymer Clay for Utensils and Details

Polymer is soft pliable clay that will harden when you bake it. The clay is the perfect product to make small plates, utensils and details around your dollhouse. You can even use it to make bricks and roof tiles.

Final Thoughts

You can make all types of themed dollhouses using the tips in this article. If you make your dollhouses look as authentic as possible you could make a lot of money from your craft by selling them. Or you can simply make dollhouses for fun and show the world how you make them through YouTube.

6 Reasons Why an iPad is Better Than a Laptop

Has it recently become necessary for you to work from home? Would you like to work on the move, taking your work with you and catching up when you can? The only hiccup is: you’re not sure if you want to carry a bulky laptop around with you wherever you go or whether you prefer something a little lighter.

Have you considered iPad hire? With the right accessories, you can use an iPad for all your office or entertainment needs. And with hiring you can see if this device is really what you need. Here’s why we think you’ll love it at first unboxing.

6 Reasons why an iPad is Better than a Laptop

If you’re not all that familiar with the ins and outs of Apple’s iPad range, you can be forgiven for thinking that they’re primarily used for entertainment. While they are top notch devices to watch movies and play games on, they’re also well equipped for some work functions as well.

Here are a few reasons why getting an iPad, whether it is via purchase or rental, is a good idea.

Portability

iPads are so much more portable than your average laptop. The iPad Pro barely measures a quarter of an inch thick and barely weighs 1.6 pounds. This makes it small and lightweight enough to put in handbags or small work bags. It’s also easier to maneuver an iPad while you’re working on the couch or in bed.

Accessorise to Simplify

If your work involves a lot of typing, it’ll be easier to use a portable keyboard. Durable and magnectic, it simply attaches to the iPad without the need for cables or pairing. You can also use an iPad stand which will elevate your iPad. That, together with your keyboard, will create a useful little work station.

Extended Battery Life

Like all other Apple products, every iPad has a longer than average battery life. Able to function for 10 hours of average use without needing to be recharged, you’ll easily get a day’s work done without the hassle of your battery running low.

App selection

iPads have a wide variety of the usual applications such as calendar, alarm, web browser, note pad among others. Apple has also gifted new iPad users with its handy iWork suite. This adds options like spreadsheets and presentation software. Design applications such as OmniGrafle are also quite popular.

Step-up from E-Reader

iPad’s iBooks has been labeled as one of the greatest e-reader apps on the market. A free Kindle reader is available in the App store, making this feature a plus point for anyone loving a good read.

Simple Presentation Tool

If you’re considering renting the iPad for work related presentations, you won’t be disappointed. A high quality screen display and optional HDMI adaptor cables allow you to connect your device to large TV or projector screens, which comes in handy during scenarios like product presentations.

In Conclusion

iPads give you more ease of use and with all the added features, applications and accessories you’ll find it much more suitable than a bulky laptop. Enjoy what technology can do for you!

How To Ship A Boat Cross Country

September 1, 2020 by Alicia Leave a Comment

So you are a boat enthusiast and has just purchased your dream boat and are wondering how to ship it back over land. Boat owners often go to great lengths to buy the vessel of their choice, even if that means the boat must transport from one side of the country to the other.

A boat is an expensive investment that can be problematic to transport if you do not have a vehicle and trailer capable of hauling it. Therefore, you will need the service of boat transportation that is designed for those who want safe and efficient shipping. Boat transportation is a complicated process involving expensive cargo.  As such, boat owners will want to make sure their boats are protected.  It is important to seek a reputable and reliable boat transport company to ship their boat. Scroll down to learn more on how to ship your boat.

Planning

Transporting a boat requires careful planning, proper preparation, and attention to detail by the parties involved like the owner, boatyard, and transporter.  A good boat transport company will offer good advice as well as look over the preparations performed before heading out on the road to ensure nothing was missed.  It is important to choose a transporter that has the knowledge and experience on how the boat ought to be supported, balanced, stabilized and secured. With its extensive knowledge of the interstate highway system for transporting boats across the state will avoid unnecessary stress.

The Cost To Transport A Boat

The cost of shipping your boat depends on the size of your boat, pickup and delivery location, and the distance it is going to travel.  The average cost to transport a boat short distance can cost between $150 to $300 while longer haul journeys can cost anything from $600 to $1,000.

A boat that only needs to be transported domestically will be cheaper than international travel. Standard size boat can be transported using enclosed containers while larger boats cannot.  The ease of accessibility to the pickup and delivery locations can also affect pricing as well.  The season of the year when the boat is being transported is another thing that can affect pricing. Wintry condition can affect road conditions which can alter the routes available for transportation.

Finding a boat shipping company should be approached in the same way that you would searching for a moving company.  You have to be cautious and compare multiple companies before choosing the best one for your situation.  Boat transporting companies are harder to come by so searching for one can be a rather tedious process.  This is where Shiply, an online shipment marketplace that connects shipping companies and customers can help.

Types of Services for Boat Transport

  • Roll On/Roll Off – This option is the cheapest way to transport your vessel. The boat is securely fastened to the top of a trailer and delivered to its destination.
  • Shrink Wrapping – This will protect the boat from moisture and salt.
  • Interstate Boat Transport – State to state transport.
  • International Yacht Transport – Delivery of boat outside of the U.S.
  • Full Service Moving – Transporting of boat along with other vehicles or items.

3 Tips For Traveling After Just Having Surgery

March 19, 2020 by Alicia Leave a Comment

Whether you’re traveling in order to get your surgery done or you’re having surgery in order to better enjoy your upcoming travels, there are many people who find themselves having to figure out how to best hit the road while their bodies are still recovering.

If this is a situation that you’ll soon find yourself in, here are three tips for traveling after just having surgery.

Get The Green Light From Your Surgeon

The first thing you need to do before traveling following any type of surgery, be it something that was medically necessary or an elective or cosmetic surgery, is to get the green light from your surgeon.

According to Zoe MacDonald, a contributor to The Telegraph, most surgeons won’t approve you for traveling, especially via airplane, until you’re at least four weeks post-op. This includes having surgeries like a tummy tuck or liposuction. For other, smaller or less invasive surgeries, you may be able to travel earlier. But before you leave home for any type of travel, make sure you’ve talked to your surgeon about your plans first.

Bring A Travel Companion

Even if you have been told that you’re safe to travel after your surgery, until you’re completely healed and back to 100 percent health and mobility, it’s a good idea to bring a travel companion with you so you don’t have to handle everything on your own.

Christie Auyeung, a contributor to MedRepublic, shares that most people who’ve recently had surgery will struggle with things like driving themselves around or carrying heavy luggage without the help of someone else. Because of this, bringing someone with you to help on your travels can make your trip much easier to manage. Additionally, if something does go wrong with your health while you’re traveling, having someone there who knows your medical history will be extremely helpful for getting the medical assistance you need.

Keep Yourself Healthy While In Transit

To ensure that you’re able to enjoy your travels and return home safely afterward, you’ll need to do your best to keep yourself healthy while you’re in transit.

To help you with this, Sharon Theimer, a contributor to the Mayo Clinic, advises that you find a way to get up and walk around every hour that you’re traveling. This will help keep your blood moving and will assist you in your healing as well as avoiding blood clots. Also, make sure you’re keeping yourself hydrated so that you don’t become dehydrated and put yourself at higher risk for complications and blood clots.

If you’re planning on having surgery and then hoping to travel soon afterward, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you do so safely.

Gadget Safety 101 – 4 Simple Tips to Keep in Mind

July 18, 2019 by Alicia Leave a Comment

Electronic devices such as tablets and laptop computers have become commonplace in daily life today, and for a good reason: not only do we use them for entertainment purposes, but many of us also rely on these tools for communication and work-related functions too. And because of this fact, it’s crucial to maintain them properly and ensure that they remain in good working condition. They aren’t exactly cheap, after all. To this end, here a few simple tips that should improve the safety and longevity of your gadgets.

  1. Purchase the right cover for your device

While it may sound like additional expenditure that many of us would rather be without, purchasing the right protection for your gadget is crucial in ensuring its safety. From a heavy-duty case for your smartphone to tempered glass to keep the screen of your tablet safe from scratches and cracks, a small investment now in protective accessories can potentially save you a lot of money on repair services or replacements later on if the need arises.

  1. Always ensure that the gadget is well-optimised

One of the reasons why many electronic devices tend to slow down after a while is because users tend to forget to optimise them. And while it may sound tedious to close any applications that aren’t being used and utilise their built-in software for memory management every so often, it will allow the gadget to function as it was originally intended. Best of all, the device is bound to run faster as a result.

  1. Increase its security

A lot of people talk about malicious software like viruses in a blasé way, but they are genuine threats that will not only make it harder to use your device but can even render it completely unusable too. As such, it makes sense to acquire additional security software if needed to protect the gadget from these types of attacks.

But keep in mind that research is crucial when searching for good anti-virus software. And time spent in carefully considering all available options can give invaluable insight as to which application to opt for.

  1. Don’t forget about insurance

Regardless of all precautions taken for the safety of the device, it’s impossible to mitigate the likelihood of damage or loss entirely. And because of this, it’s essential to secure insurance for your gadget. After all, most electronic devices aren’t exactly cheap. And acquiring the right coverage for your device through sites like ucompare.ie can considerably lower the costs of any repairs as well as replacement if or when the need arises.

Our gadgets and electronic devices are a lot more important in our daily lives than some might give them credit for. As such, it makes sense to take all necessary measures to ensure that they remain safe and secure. And by keeping the tips listed above in mind, not only will you increase the longevity of the device, but it is bound to function well too.

If you don’t have much experience with DIY projects, you may find that this particular project may be ideally suited to your skillset. As it’s hard to mess up building a rope based shelf.

5. Corner shelves

If you want to make use out of the space in the corners of your room, you may want to find out how to create handy corner shelves. Which you may want to decorate with your book collection or some of your favorite plants.

6. Crate based shelves

Did you know that you can repurpose unwanted used crates as brand new shelves that are guaranteed to be a great conversation starter?

As an example, you may want to place three crate based shelves on top of one another, in your bathroom to hold your toiletries. If your bathroom has a color scheme such as a predominantly white aesthetic, you may even want to spray paint your crates white, before you hang them up on your wall.

So if your home could do with a couple of new DIY shelves, it’s well worth selecting the DIY shelving project listed above, which best suits your home’s requirements and your DIY skillset.

4 Worthwhile Lifestyle Tips

February 18, 2019 by Alicia Leave a Comment

If you want to learn how to save money, how to double the items in your closet and how to motivate yourself to work out on a regular basis, simply continue reading to discover a few fun lifestyle tips.

4 Worthwhile lifestyle tips:

1. Don’t be too shy to ask to borrow items from close friends and family members

If you want to be able to save more money to meet your goals such as embarking on an overseas adventure, it’s well worth asking trusted friends and family members to borrow items which you may only require once or twice.

As an example, if you’re booked flights for a business trip and don’t have the right sized suitcase, you may want to ask a close family member such as a sibling, parent or aunt or uncle if they have a suitcase which you can borrow. Alternatively, you may want to borrow books from friends, instead of purchasing them.

As often you can save hundreds of dollars, if you borrow items from your contact network, instead of purchasing items which you may only use a couple of times, for full price. Just be sure to return all the items which you borrow, in the same condition which you received them.

2. Swap your unwanted clothes with friends who are the same size

If you’re looking to update your wardrobe or simply make well-needed space in your closet, it’s a great idea to swap your unwanted clothes with friends who are roughly the same size. As a benefit, some of your friends may be willing to part with some items, which are just your style or which come from one of your favorite brands.

3. Purchase presents when major sales are on instead of paying full price for your gifts

Instead of waiting until the last minute to purchase gifts such as wedding gifts, Christmas gifts, anniversary gifts, and birthday gifts, it’s a great idea to put aside money to purchase gifts when major sales are taking place such as Black Friday. As that way, you’ll be able to purchase high-quality gifts for a fraction of the price, that you’d usually expect to pay for each item!

As an added bonus, if you purchase your presents, well in advance you won’t have to stress about finding gifts when important occasions such as family member’s birthdays approach. Which in turn will decrease your stress levels.

4. Get into the habit of wearing athletic outfits on a casual basis

Instead of saving your athletic outfits for your workouts, it’s also a great idea to wear your favorite athletic pieces such as shorts, tank tops, and leggings on a regular basis. As you’ll be far more likely to be motivated to complete a workout if you’re already in your workout clothes.

As let’s face it, on some days, it’s far too hard to get changed out of your everyday clothes into your workout clothes. Just be sure not to wear your favorite workout clothes to work!

If you follow the tips listed above, you’ll be sure to save money, double your closet and to work out on a regular basis.
